Successful #ECREA2024

From 24-27 September 2024, the ECREA general conference was held in Ljubijana. As one of the largest sections in the association, Political Communication received 296 individual paper submissions and 4 panel submissions. With 29 panel slots in the program, we could accept 145 submissions (including panels). During the business meeting, we officially said goodbye to our former YECREA representatives, Emilija Gagrčin and Cristina Monzer, and welcomed our new representatives, Anna Maria Planitzer and Andreea Stancea.

As the current management team’s term came to an end during this ECREA, the section held an election to elect a management team for the upcoming two-year term. Agnieszka Stępińska (Chair), Jakob Ohme (Vice Chair), and Nicoleta Corbu (Vice Chair) were running as a team again and were re-elected. With more candidates than positions to fill, election officer Vaclav Stetka organized an anonymous ballot during the business meeting. The Section would like to thank Vaclav for his efforts and all candidates for running for office.

It was also announced that the next bi-annual #ECREAPolComm25 section conference will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, with local hosts Lore Hayek and Uta Russmann, both from the University of Innsbruck 🏔.

Thank you to all of our members who attended the business meeting and the political communication community for once again making this a successful general conference!
#ECREA 2026 will be held in Brno, Czech Republic.
